It has been well documented that beef from animals raised on pasture is healthier for human consumption than commercial beef. From a nutritional standpoint, grassfed beef is substantially different than grain fed beef. One of the biggest differences is the overall fat composition. It is lower in total fat and calories, yet it has higher levels of “healthy” fats including Omega-3 fatty acids and Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA). Animal studies suggest that CLA may be a potent anticarcinogen. Additionally, the level of Vitamin E is four times higher in grassfed beef than in grain fed beef.
